09/09/2008 Aisling Dhorcha by Beithíoch released for free

The new album from Beithíoch is finished and available for free download from HI.ARC.TOW. Aisling Dhorcha remains within the ambient black metal framework set out on first album Díolaim whilst expanding the range of dynamics and mood. Unlike the arguably fragmented first album, Aisling Dhorcha is written as a complete, continuous whole; ocassionally recalling and mutating motifs from itself in imitation of the romantic style of greats like Beethoven and Brahms. A tale of struggle and triumph over fear and complacency, Aisling Dhorcha is the essence of Beithíoch approached from a new perspective. This album features vocals and lyrics entirely within the Irish language.

08/28/2008 Shady Russians selling HI.ARC.TOW mp3s

I only wish the price was higher. Quite frankly if you pay for dodgy russian mp3s when you can easily get them from their original source for free - you deserve everything you get.

08/27/2008 Beithíoch : Díolaim available on tape

2007 album "Díolaim" from Beithíoch is now available from DIVELIZ REX in tape format. Since we at HI.ARC.TOW don't cater for the neurotic market in physical music releases this album is made available for those who prefer physical format to digital for its own sake - not those who buy music for moral reasons. For those who would rather download the mp3s or a CD-R suitable version, it's still available from us. Copies cost 3 Euro + postage (varies depending on region) and can be obtained by mailing DIVELIZ REX @ DVLZRX@web.de.

08/23/2008 New Beithíoch track online

A new track from the forthcoming album Aisling Dhorcha by Beithíoch is online at myspace. Súil Bhaloir is one of the few tracks on the new album that doesn't feature vocals, but is otherwise reasonably indicative of what you can expect. The album is still not finished. When it is - you'll know.

07/15/2008 Not directly related to HI.ARC.TOW but nonetheless interesting and relevant:

Mike Riddick/Metalhit interview at ANUS/Dark Legions Archive

"Experienced underground metal guru Mike Riddick (Yamatu, Equimanthorn, The Soil Bleeds Black) has launched a for-profit MP3-based label that sells MP3s, and sends promotional MP3s to zines and radio shows -- but somehow, he's not worried about MP3s "ruining the music business." "

07/12/2008 Beithíoch new album news

A new Beithíoch album has been promised for a few months now, heres a few quick details about it.

The album is called Aisling Dhorcha, a tale of darkness and rebirth. It'll work as a singular whole: a continuous narrative with the odd returning musical motif. It'll break a little bit with the minimalistic ethos/style of Beithíoch by being more epic; going as far as to feature occasional percussion accompaniment and synth string parts (!). It'll also have vocals + lyrics as a more prominent component; with all lyrics being written in Irish (a first in metal, maybe).

Once again the album will be released as a free Creative Commons download through HI.ARC.TOW. There are a few things left to finish off with it, but it should be available in a month or two.

tracklist/names at present:
1. Glór cianaosta
2. An anaithnid Dorcha
3. Dornán talaimh
4. Oíche bhithbheo
5. Arm na déithe
6. Solas na geallaí
7. Súil Bhaloir
8. Athbhreith lasánta
9. Ag stánadh ar shíoraíocht

you can see the cover artwork on the myspace page.

Also worth a quick mention: Been in talks with some people about a couple of physical releases, a split work and a physical release of Díolaim. We shall see what comes of it.
